If we can relieve stress, and we all get stressed from time to time, then we will most definitely be happier. Being happier can really make a difference in your job. I experienced my income almost triple when I decided to be happier.

You will be a lot more fun to be around. Friends won’t be making up excuses not to hang out with you. Your kids will be in turn happier. That’s really important to me. I don’t want to contribute anything but happiness to my son. It will give you more grace for when they aren’t living up to your expectations.


Stress is often described as psychological pain. It can be pressure from any and all directions. Pressure from kids, work, friends, money, health, or YOURSELF just to mention a few.

Stress happens to all of us. Some people are better at dealing with stress than others. If we don’t manage the stress we will most likely find ourselves in situations we don’t want. Then we will end up with more stress. Not good!

Why try to relieve stress?

Too much stress in our lives can lead to a whole host of things we don’t want. Obviously this will make life harder so let’s manage the stress where we can. We can’t avoid it all together so make a plan to deal with it.

Stress can increase the possibilities of a stroke, heart attack, ulcers, and any kind of sickness you can imagine. It can deplete your immune system making it easier to get sick. High stress will zap all of your willpower. Also, depression and anxiety try to sneak their way in. Once that happens guess what? More stress of course. If you aren’t careful you will find yourself spiraling down into a vicious circle.

Basically, you don’t want any of that! If you are already experiencing some of the above then it’s imperative you take action. Try some of these quick tips to help manage that stress. Maybe, you can at least bring it down a notch. Little by little get it under control.

  5. Re-direct your thoughts. Consciously focus on the positive.
  6. Avoid procrastination.
  7. Reduce caffeine, alcohol and nicotine.
  8. Listen to your favorite music (maybe not heavy metal).
  9. Incorporate affirmations in your daily routine.
  10. Decrease stress inducing behaviors.

Try a few just to start out.

You could google more tips but, you will find there are many, many ways to relieve stress. I suggest you just try a few and see if you experience any benefit. Everyone is unique in their own experience.

I like to just focus on one at a time and the one I pick depends on a few things. The level of my stress. What time of day I need to lower my stress. Where the stress is coming from. It could be my own worries. Maybe it’s traffic.

One thing I would like to mention is that your thoughts lead to more thoughts. In other words, if you have a negative thought it will lead to another negative thought unless you consciously change it. You have to train yourself to interrupt the pattern.

  1. You have a great list of simple ways to relieve stress, and it’s got some new ideas I hadn’t thought of. For me the toughest one is getting good quality sleep. 

    I’m working on ways to make this better – I’ve made a lot of great changes in my environment to facilitate good sleep like removing lights on devices in the room, installing blackout curtains, using a sound machine for white noise, and setting the thermostat at a cool temperature. 

  2. What a really great article on Stress Relief, you did a nice job with it. I have a Healthy Living site and I haven’t thought about doing anything on Stress yet but I should. I have a son who is a single father and I see all the issues he has at times. I will share this with him. Great Job

  3. Stress is something that I have been trying to cope with my whole life. With my current situation, now it has reached at its peak again. Getting some sleep by far is the most difficult one for me. It goes like this. I am stress about something hence I couldn’t fall asleep. I then stressed out about not being to fall asleep lol Life. I agree thought that sleep is important. 

    Incorporate affirmations in my daily routine is a nice touch, I will give that a try. Have you heard of the 5 second rule by Mel Robbins? She teaches us to do the count down and redirect your thoughts like your suggestions and it works! Give it a try. Just count down from 5-1 and change your thinking pattern. It helps me so many times.
